Annual Cross-Connection & Backflow Prevention Requirements:

The Buckingham Park Water District’s (the District’s) Domestic Water Supply Permit, issued by the California Department of Public Health requires that the District comply with the California Code of Regulations, Title 17, Sections 7583 through 7605, which mandates that all domestic water suppliers have an approved program for the protection of the public water supply against backflow from contaminated water sources, and sets forth the minimum guidelines for establishing such a program. To ensure compliance with the aforementioned regulation, the District’s Board of Directors has adopted an Ordinance entitled Cross Connection Control & Backflow Prevention.

The ordinance was written based on the minimum requirements set forth in CCR, Title 17, and more specifically that all properties which have an auxiliary water source shall have a device installed to prevent backflow from potential contaminated cross connections, and that each of these devices must be tested and certified operational annually. A copy of this ordinance can be obtained at the District’s business office or via our website: www.buckinghamparkwater.us.

The new ordinance extends the testing time frame  to allow testers and homeowners more time for scheduling and compliance with this ordinance. The revised testing period is between January 1st and June 30th of each year. Please remember that all devices must be certified no later than June 30th and the certificates must be received by our office within 10 days of the date on which the device was tested (i.e. if your tester certifies your device on June 15th, the certificate is due in our office by June 25th). Please keep in mind that there is a significant late fee of $125.00 associated with this deadline.
